Leadership

It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself. My name is LaWanda Gray-Henry. I am the CEO and Visionary of Compassionate Enterprises, Inc.™
As a child, with every indicator of another’s troubles, I sought to be of help, determined that I was going to save the world! And with each life step that I have taken, that determination remains. For most of my life, I have worked in jobs that serve people, beginning at age 15 at the Great Oaks Center, a facility for people with mental and physical disabilities. I also have been active in community work, and since 2004, have served as a Pastor, founding and leading a congregation. Being of service to others fulfills me. My current position as a Legal Assistant at a reputable law firm located in Upper Marlboro, MD affords me the opportunity to witness first-hand the challenges that seasoned citizens and people with disabilities face. I hear people say that they feel like they are on an island by themselves, that family members have distanced themselves; that their health is failing, and there is no one to assist them; and when papers need to be filled out, there is no one to handle that task. This isn’t how life should be. If I can apply my kindness and management skills to make someone’s life better, then I can’t imagine not doing so.
I am a woman on a mission. Compassionate Enterprises, Inc. will render to the public exactly what our mission states, “Compassion Extended Beyond Measure.” Webster defines the word “compassion” as “sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress together with a desire to alleviate it.” This is what Compassionate Enterprises, Inc. will epitomize. Everyone deserves to enjoy the luxuries of life. It is my goal to ensure that everyone is treated with the care and the utmost respect that they deserve. It is this kind of compassion that gives people hope and a feeling of security. I believe that it’s just nice to be nice.
